I just can't fathom how a woman can overpower a man in that manner. Even if a woman is physically stronger than the man. If a man really doesn't want to, how could she even make him erect by force, let alone force it inside her?...
A lot of aggression in this comments with this is literally no stupid questions.
Sexual assault comes in many forms and men are and can be victims of most of them. Coercion, violence, emotional manipulation, drugs or alcohol, the list is the same regardless of gender.
As for an erection, it’s a biological response so they don’t correspond to desire/attraction/consent. Many women who are raped get “wet” and even orgasm, but that does not indicate pleasure or consent. It’s actually one of the reasons rape victims feel very guilty about the event. “If I didn’t want it/hated it/was scared, why did I cum?” That reasoning is also part of why people don’t report rape. They think that having an orgasm will hurt their chances to press charges or win because “they enjoyed it”
Rape can also happen between consenting people as well. In fact, quite a lot of what is and should be considered sexual assault/rape, is a partner “going too far” or doing something their consenting partner didn’t consent to.
Healthy sexual intimacy requires clear communication, setting boundaries, and making sure those things aren’t broken. The kink/BDSM community is an extreme form of sexual pleasure, and despite literal violence and pain, there is always consent at the forefront and there is always an “opt-out” or safe word that ends the encounter with no second guessing.

Sometimes on Lemmy these seem like the only jobs that actually exist, but I'm sure there's a lot of people here with different and unusual lines of work.
Let’s try that here in Minneapolis. See how well that works with several inches of snow cover and sub-zero temps.
I’m def not a “I love cars” kind of person, but a heated and protected pod to transport me, my family and friends, my belongings and anything I purchase is a necessity. Can’t just “pop to the grocery” every day or two in winter conditions even if I didn’t live miles away from any viable store with food.

I'm asking because as a light-skinned male, I always use the standard Simpsons yellow. I don't really see other light-skinned people using an emoji that matches their skin tone, but often do see people of color use them. Maybe white people don't naturally realize a need to be explicit with emoji skin-tone or perhaps it's seen as...
It’s about personal preference for sure. I tried to start using the “white” emojis and it just didn’t seem to matter. If I do use an emoji, I tend to default to the Simpsons yellow because it requires no extra effort. I don’t see a ton of people using the skin-tone emojis at all. I also have no issue with people using them much like pronouns in emails/profiles.
I’m also on iPhone so if I am going to extra mile I’ll just use my little sticker guy who better represents me in general.
We aren’t carnivores, we are omnivores. An advantage that surely allowed the growth of our brains and allowed us to become the dominant species in the planet.
Our teeth our designed in a way to both rip/tear meat and also grind up plants.
It is great that some sector of the population can be vegetarian or vegan, but it isn’t a realistic option if everyone did so. Farming is destroying hundred of thousands of acres of land every year. Keeping up with a plant-based only diet for 8 billion people isn’t feasible with the current technology and farming practices of today.
None of what I said was misinformation. Turning everyone vegan doesn’t resolve factory farming crops. Chemicals to ensure we can actually grow food, monocultures that are terrible for the environment, limitations of where things can grow.
I’m all for reducing meat consumption, but the utopian world where everyone is vegan has many hurdles to overcome that aren’t just magically resolved. Sure, right now we might be able to reduce land usage for farming, but that is one small aspect of commercial farming under capitalism.
How do people afford food when they don’t live in a place that can grow it? How do we ensure we can continue to grow food when we are so dependent on chemicals to do so? How does a developing country support agriculture without the huge subsidies currently required in developed nations? How do you educate 8 billion people on how to properly get the nutrients they need from new sources of food? How do convince society that GMOs aren’t bad?
These are rhetorical, but moving to veganism requires us to think about these types of things before claiming “but less farm land”
I’m not sure if you just aren't aware or are being intentionally obtuse, but that isn’t what keeps the soil healthy or enables plants to grow. Have you grown plants ever?
Sure, photosynthesis takes in CO2 and sunlight and converts that into sugars, but plants need much more than that from the soil and water, which we have to add using modern agriculture.
Growing food on the scale to feed our population now requires crop rotations, fallow fields, nitrogen, phosphates, potash, insecticides, and billions of dollars in agricultural subsidies. You can grow a field of crops once or twice before adding all of the fertilizers and pesticides, but any amount of regular farming requires much much much more than CO2.
And do you have plans to resolve them? I didn’t just make that all up to make veganism sound bad. They are realities that need to be dealt with if we made the ethical decision to not consume animal products anymore. With 80% of the grocery store, currently, relying on animal products, how do we replace them? With agriculture. Those problems now only don’t go away, they get exacerbated. Not to mention all of the pollinator populations dwindling.
I don’t have the solutions, I’m just some fucking guy. But if we don’t want more and more people suffering while reducing or removing animal products from our diets, we would have to take many steps before doing so.
And the person who posted this meme is called “MilitantVegan” and straight up doesn’t seem to understand human evolution or science. I’ve only said things that are true, or what my opinion is based on that truth. It might not be great, it might not be true in 50 years, but just watch a documentary on modern agriculture and you will see that these things are our reality. We farm the soil until it becomes barren, and fix it with pesticides and fertilizers for the sake of commercialization. We can’t keep cutting down natural habitats in the search of usable soil to replace those things without completely ruining the lives of animals…the goal of reducing or eliminating the use of animal products.
Here are the steps I would take. Powering the device on each time it seems logical and see if anything has changed.
-Check the power switch on the power supply.
-Make sure the power cable is seated into the power supply.
-Listen for any unusual noises when power supply is on
-Open the computer and look for any codes or lights on the mobo, Google it
-Check RAM is properly seated
-Check all of the power cables visible to me from opening the case. 8-pin at the top, 24-pin on the right side, any hard drives/ssds, cable for graphics card
-Inspect computer for any hot spots
-Unplug video cable from graphics card the into the one on the mobo, this only works with some newish AMD, but most Intel processors are going to have onboard graphics
-If nothing comes up and I can’t see any problems, you will have to start taking things out of the computer
-Start with removing the graphics card
-Check for any sort of damage to the power port and PCIe on the card and the slot
Removing the card should allow better visibility of the mobo
-Remove the back panel (if you need to) to see if all of the power supply cables are properly seated
-Check any cable management in the back or any hard drives/ssd mounted back there
After this, if nothing has changed and I don’t have any more info I would probably take apart completely, check for any kind of damage, put back together and test again with the bare minimum and adding stuff as I go. If you don’t know how to take apart or put a computer together I would follow a guide on YT.
After that you should def have an idea what isn’t working, if everything looks fine it can be the power supply
If the power supply seems okay and mobo isn’t showing any kind of lights or code (or signs of life) that is your best candidate
As you add stuff it should give you the best indication and if you are unsure, post another edit
My best guess based on your post is a dead motherboard but going through the steps like you want will avoid having to purchase an expensive thing for no reason
How dare you take a picture of my grandparents house! Have some respect for the dead.
It is funny how the 80s/90s were portrayed in media. Crazy colors and styles. The reality is everything was brown and was purchased/furnished in the 70s.
Fun fact, you are more likely to die taking a selfie than to be killed by a shark. From 2018-2021 more than 300 people died while taking a selfie, in that same time period about 200 people were killed by sharks.
Isn’t the purpose of the art piece to demonstrate the human condition across an ocean? Flashing/mooning/offensive memes, that is what humans do. This should stay up and more should be put in place. How much more culturally connected would cities in the US be linked to other UK or EU cities?
Def not a bad idea, the more cities around the world the better. I also like the idea of sister cities, if they were to stick to a single portal to portal connection. I’m in Minneapolis, maybe match it with a similarly sized city across the pond. Could root for each others sports teams, offer support in trying times, develop a digital bond.
I’m pro AI at this point. Any use it has in the real world have and will continue regardless if AI art somehow gets restricted. AI is choosing who gets jobs, doing the work previously done by humans, and companies will continue this trend.
Being able to create art that is good and makes someone money is already a 1% kinda thing (I don’t mean money-wise, I mean just the ability to earn money as an artist at all). If we can’t save the rest of humanity, artists are just going to have to join us.
This man’s rape conviction has ruined his life, that is punishment enough. -A lot of judges apparently
Cut to this man being hired at another department while he under house arrest. He gets work release and bam, rapist cop back out on the street, even while on probation.
In this particular situation, Harambe was causing harm to the child, more of a curiosity but with a very strong and less dexterous creature. I don’t think a wild animal should be held accountable for being themselves. So his death is still bullshit.
There is another example of a child falling into a gorilla enclosure and a female gorilla protected the child from the other gorillas until the zoo staff arrived.
Most males in the animal kingdom are, at best, indifferent to children of other males/species. At worst, they actively kill babies from other males.
I recently endured a job search. Applied to over 400 positions on Indeed alone. I stopped filling out the forms. Probably lost out on some job opportunities, but having to fill this shit out 30 times a day is not worth the effort.
I’m really loving Manor Lords but my first “good” playthrough is coming to an end and I’ll take a break until more content is added. Once you learn all of the game mechanics, building a thriving economy is really easy.
I picked up the game for $30, it will keep getting better, and some day I’ll have an amazing game that I got for pretty cheap. This isn’t my first early-access experience, and most of the games I’ve gotten have been a success. Subnautica, Oxygen Not Included, The Forest, Astroneers. Im sure there are more on that list, just a few off the top of my head.
I don’t much care about the semantics. It isn’t just one person making the game, but it is one persons vision and it is a good one.
