[...] Asked on local Spanish radio station RNE if May 21 was when Spain, Ireland and other EU countries would recognise a Palestinian state, Borrell said yes, mentioning as well.
"This is a symbolic act of a political nature. More than a state, it recognises the will for that state to exist," he said, adding that and other countries would probably follow.

/ Trinity College Dublin agrees to divest from Israeli firms after student protest

Trinity College Dublin has agreed to divest from Israeli companies operating in the occupied Palestinian territories after a 5-day student protest encampment on campus. The protest was inspired by similar campaigns at universities in the U.S., Europe, and India in response to Israel's recent military conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

[…] Trinity’s supplier list contains just one Israeli company, which will remain until March 2025 for contractual reasons, said the statement.

"The ongoing violence and oppression against Palestinians by the Israeli government violate fundamental human rights principles. The disproportionate use of force, illegal settlements, and blockade of Gaza have resulted in immense suffering and loss of life. Our nation should not support regimes engaged in such violations. Action Requested: We urge the Prime Minister to take a principled stand against the Israeli government's actions by severing diplomatic ties, ending military support, and condemning human rights abuses in Palestine."

/ Lawmakers Admit They Want to Ban TikTok Over Pro-Palestinian Content

[…] The global nature of TikTok’s reach is most likely the driver of the massive uptick in pro-Palestinian content on the app. According to a study conducted by Semaforin November, the app’s popularity with users in Muslim-majority countries was a decisive factor in the spread of pro-Palestinan content during the early weeks of the war. By contrast, content being produced in the United States was nearly evenly split in its support for Palestine or Israel.

The Gaza conflict protests differ from the Vietnam War era protests in that they are smaller in scale, more diverse in views, and heavily influenced by social media, with a greater emphasis on and thus, contrary to pro-Israel supporters claims ("ignorant", "arrogant" etc.), are showing nuanced understanding of the conflict, whereas the Vietnam War protests were larger, more unified, and driven by a broader anti-establishment movement.
