Seems to me Gallant is trying to distance himself from genocidal #Kahanism, which for all intents and purposes is now embedded in the #Likud party.
Gallant was attempting to explain his position following a speech in which he criticized the party chairman, PM Netanyahu. Explaining why he opposes military rule in #Gaza, he said:
"We don't have enough soldiers for that, [...] I am against a Palestinian state. There should be neither #Hamas nor Israel there, [...] We are continuing Begin's path, not Ben Gvir's - we have values, and I suggest we don't forget that we represent all Israelis (תנועה ממלכתית)."

Israel is occupying Palestinian lands since 1948. Way before #Hamas even existed. So the conflict has nothing to do with the Hamas, and everything to do with said occupation. dont you think?

Nobody did more than #Netanyahu to funnel money to the #Hamas, the PA’s staunch enemy. Most countries in the world see the #PA as a political authority who’s the legitimate representative of Palestinian aspirations for statehood, which in Netanyahu’s vocabulary means “terrorism”.
Netanyahu (who’s indicted for several corruption charges) responded to the statements of Defense Minister Gallant, and said: "After the terrible massacre, I instructed to destroy Hamas. IDF fighters and security forces are fighting for this. As long as Hamas remains, no other entity will govern Gaza - certainly not the Palestinian Authority."
He added that "80% of the Palestinians in the West Bank support the terrible massacre. The Palestinian Authority supports terrorism, funds terrorism and educates for terrorism. The first condition to pave the way for another entity is to eliminate Hamas and do so without excuses."
In his statements, though, he did not address the possibility of establishing a military government in the Strip.
