New York Times bestselling author and artist Chanel Miller tells a fun, funny, and poignant story of friendship and community starring Magnolia Wu, a ten-year-old sock detective bent on returning all the lonely only socks left behind in her parents' NYC laundromat.
A SCANDALOUS 1865 DIVORCE case offers a window into New York high society—the defendant was a cousin of Edith Wharton, no less—and the time’s changing attitudes about marriage, women’s rights, and sexuality. Great balance of gossip and context. B PLUS

This is turning out to be a book I'm not terribly excited about: The Dog Of The South by Charles Portis. The tone sort of reminds me of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but set in Texas and Mexico and without the hardcore drugs. Parts are funny, but mostly it kind of drags and I'm not sure what the point is. If I wasn't already more than halfway through, I'd probably add it to the DNF pile. #FridayReads#AmReading#Books#Fiction#Bookstodon@bookstodon
Two pieces of good news this week! The first 3 Accidental Detective humorous mystery novels will come out in audio! PLUS HarperCollins/Harlequin contracted for the mass market paperback rights of something Shady at Sunshine Haven. (Mass-market is the small paperback size. Right now they're in trade paperback.) These options should bring the books to more readers. I don't know yet when they'll be out though. #Books@bookstodon#mystery#cozy
I #amreading Arboreality by Rebecca Campbell and my heart is breaking at the beauty of her words describing an untenable reality of climate change. This is a book I will read read slowly to savor. @bookstodon
In a new memoir, Christa Brown, one of the nation’s best-known clergy abuse survivors and #SBC whistleblowers, shares the shocking story of her escape from Baptistland.
31 Venetia, Georgette Heyer. Re-read.
I remembered the first part of this far more clearly than the second. I still find myself cheering Venetia on as she sets out after what she finds her heart desires. Excellent all round. #books@bookstodon
