limerod , in Problem with engineer mode app Mediatek

You can use the netmonster app to access the network options from the 3-dot menu at the bottom

limerod , in Why does Gboard feel more fluid than Heliboard?

For one gboard has been longer in existence compared to heliboard. Heliboard still has quirks to fix which will take some time.

pewgar_seemsimandroid , in Why does Gboard feel more fluid than Heliboard?

I've just been using gboard with no internet

lurch , in Problem with samsung's Voice recorder

did you consider trying other apps? i can't recommend one, but for me the obvious first step if an app doesn't work well is to find one that works.

Shyla OP ,

I am considering it, but i have not yet used a new one.

But I also need to know what caused this problem and if I could find those recs somewhere.

Moonrise2473 , in Why does Gboard feel more fluid than Heliboard?

I tried on my pixel and it seems as snappy as gboard, thinking to switch. Although i didn't load extra dictionaries or the proprietary swipe module

naeap , in Why does Gboard feel more fluid than Heliboard?
@naeap@sopuli.xyz avatar

Well, a bit maybe, yes

But most annoying is the swipe detection, which feels much more stubborn
English is quite ok, but else... Especially mixed languages don't work well, and I'm always having to switch between German and English

Chef6652 , in Why does Gboard feel more fluid than Heliboard?

Heliboard also has weird bugs such as scrubbing through text with the space not working sometimes, even duplicating letters at times.
But overall it works great.

To answer your question with another question: Heliboard isn't the same code base as GBoard, isn't it? Which means that it might have some kinks to iron out to feel more responsive.

To answer your question with another question: Heliboard isn’t the same code base as GBoard, isn’t it?

Well, indeed. I was just hoping that someone expert on the intricate inner mechanisms of GBoard could have explained why the comparison is so striking

jacktherippah , in flashing ROM, is it that easy?

They changed their bootloader unlock policy. Avoid like the plague.

Have you tried any of the InnerTune forks?

Hm, I have never had any big issues with them. Have you checked the RiMusic crash logs?

There are not many left (not 100% YTM tho):

CapnAssHolo , in why are you using your launcher?

Nova bc I don't know any FOSS launcher that can swipe an icon up/down for multiple functionalities. Also I like the inrlteration with sesame.

lemann , in looking for a stable FOSS YTM app that just works

Are you using YouTube music purely for new suggestions?

If not, and you have your own curated playlists, you could consider NewPipe (or the fork called Tubular) as it allows you to play these in the background, and even add songs from SoundCloud and Bandcamp into the same playlist.

What device do you have? These apps could just be crashing because YouTube detected it temporarily blocked access; happens all the time with yt-dlp, Piped, and NewPipe

I thought Blackhole was okay altho I do notice a little lag in loading. It sources the audio from saavn, ytm and og youtube.

Also I know you asked for a foss app but I've always loved ymusic.

limerod , in is this some kind of keylogger?

Try using canta with shizuku to remove those apps.

Lux , in Ad free YouTube App

Youtube revanced is the best one I've used, but it's a bit more involved to install it
